ACTIVISTS
FOR AUTISM
Autism is a range of neuro-behavioural disabilities, which can affect communication, sensory processing, and social interactions. These impairments often hinder learning and speech.
ABOUT IKHAYA BRIDGE
We are a South African based non-profit organisation with its grassroots in the heart of the Cape Flats and Townships. It was birthed out of a passion to promote inclusivity within the education sector, particularly advocating for children with disabilities.
We aim to provide support to vulnerable children, kids with special needs and unemployed youth through the provision of scholarships, skills training, after – school programs and autism support .
“1 IN EVERY 88 CHILDREN IS AUTISTIC”
OUR STORY
Our son was diagnosed with autism in 2010 and we began the nerve wracking process of assessments, wait listings, interventions, therapies and schooling. As ministers that have spent 18 years in the townships of Cape Town, we noticed that special needs township children were extremely unsupported and under resourced.
